Organizers of this year’s “Mining for a Heart of Gold” benefit dinner hope to raise more than the $40,000 amassed in 2003. All funds raised by the event, slated for Nov. 10 in Toronto, will go to Peter’s Hospital at Chedoke in Hamilton, Ont., a 90-bed specialty hospital for young adults with disabilities.
The money raised last year helped renovate St. Peter’s Palliative Care unit.
Through its affiliation with McMaster University, St. Peter’s provides care for young adults with neurological conditions, spinal and acquired brain injuries, and severe developmental disabilities.
Sponsored by Tribute Minerals and IBK Capital, the event will feature prizes and a live auction. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30. To order, phone Kim Mitchell-Brough at (905) 777-3837, ext. 12415. E-mail: kmitchell-brough@stpetes.ca
Donations should be mailed to St. Peter’s Foundation, c/o Mining Event, 88 Maplewood Ave., Hamilton, Ont. L8M 1W9
The event will be held at the Courthouse Market Grille & Chamber Lounge at 57 Adelaide St. E.
