Hoping to imitate its neighbor’s success, Pinewood Resources (PNW-V) is carrying out an airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey at its Afridi Lake diamond project, 320 km northeast of Yellowknife, N.W.T.
The Vancouver-based company holds 52 sq. km adjoining Intertech Minerals’ (IML-V) 526-sq.-km property, also dubbed Afridi. Previous work on that property identified a series of narrow bodies resembling kimberlite dykes, from which seven macrodiamonds and 59 microdiamonds were extracted from a 711.9-kg composite sample. Though preliminary, the results were encouraging enough to convince Kennecott Canada Exploration to sign an agreement with Intertech to earn a 60% interest in the property (T.N.M., Aug. 10-16/98).
Pinewood says the survey will cover the entire property and be conducted on a 50-by-100-metre grid.
