Northeast of Camsell Lake, at the Mackay-Back Lakes diamond project in the Northwest Territories, SouthernEra Resources (SUF-T) is drill-Testing high-priority geophysical targets.
Six key kimberlite-indicator mineral trains, with lengths varying from 1 to 7 miles, end at the western shores of four lakes, where airborne and ground geophysical surveys have defined 24 circular magnetic targets.
At last report, three holes had been completed. Drilling is expected to continue to the end of May.
SouthernEra holds a 70% interest in both properties, while partner Kalahari Resources (KLA-V) holds 30% of Mackay Lake and 19.4% of Back Lake. The remaining interest in Back Lake is split among several other juniors, including a 5.8% share held by Island-Arc Resources (IAR-V).
Kennecott Canada holds a back-in right to a 70% interest in the 360,000-Acre area.
Limited drill programs in late 1995 and 1996 resulted in the discovery of a swarm of kimberlitic dykes at the Mackay-Back Lakes project.
Ground geophysical surveys are continuing, and a till-sampling program comprising 1,000 further samples is planned.
