DIAMOND PAGE — Rex finds indicators in Mauritania

The most recent batch of soil samples from the Mauritanian diamond exploration properties of Rex Diamond (RXD-T) have shown significant counts of kimberlite indicator mineral.

Indicators found include pyrope garnets and chrome-diopside coated with rock fragments.

An airborne magnetic survey covering 36,000 sq. km (about half of Rex’s wholly owned permit areas in the country) has yielded 103 magnetic targets possibly related to kimberlites. The systematic grid sampling on a cluster of magnetic anomalies underlying several calcrete-filled depressions has been intensified. It is thought that the depressions, 300 to 500 metres across, may be large kimberlite craters.
