DIAMOND PAGE — Navigator disappointed

A drilling effort on the South Contwoyto Lake diamond property in the Northwest Territories came up empty for Navigator Exploration (NVR-A).

The junior tested five high-priority targets with 550 metres of drilling but failed to encounter any kimberlite. A summer program of prospecting and ground-checking on the remaining geophysical targets at South Contwoyto Lake will resume after break-up. A field program is also planned for another group of claims, which lie southwest of the Camsell Lake project.

In addition, Navigator will resume exploration on the Nowyak Lake gold project in Nunavut. A ground geophysical survey has identified several magnetic and induced-polarization (IP) anomalies west of the high-grade Bonanza showing, where selected grab samples yielded values of up to 3.4 oz. gold and 28.8 oz. silver per ton.

This spring, a first phase of drilling on the subcropping Bonanza zone was suspended after two holes failed to intersect the mineralized zone. The company determined the Bonanza showing to be an accumulation of boulders that had been transported from a local origin. The probable source is thought to lie up-ice in a northwesterly direction. A program of regional prospecting, till sampling and drilling is to begin later this month.
