Results are beginning to trickle in from a 73-hole reverse circulation drill program on ground held by Sudbury Contact Mines (TSE) in the Kirkland Lake diamond camp, says exploration geologist Peter Hubacheck.
The winter program, designed to test about 10 magnetic targets and systematically sample the basal till layer for indicator mineral content, was completed in March, he says, and full results are forthcoming. Meanwhile, the company plans to drill another 20 reverse circulation holes this summer, including three holes on selected magnetic targets.
— Carmel Resources (VSE) has signed an option agreement with Magnus and East West Resource (VSE) to earn a 40% interest in a property in McCart Twp., Ont., by issuing 100,000 shares and spending $200,000 on exploration over a 2-year period.
The claims lie within a “cluster” of kimberlite targets called the Abitibi Field, north of the Kirkland Lake diamond area. Kimberlite boulders and pyrope garnets have been identified downstream from the property. Ground magnetics and reverse circulation drilling are expected to get under way on the property soon. Carmel may increase its interest to 50% by spending an additional $800,000 on exploration.
— Cross Lake Minerals (VSE) and Cathedral Gold (TSE) have entered into an agreement with Sterling Resources whereby Sterling may earn a 50% interest in 30 claims in Edwards Twp. by paying $15,000 and spending $24,000 in 24 months. The claims cover four circular magnetic anomalies.
n Partners Cristobal Resources (VSE) and Orco Resources (VSE) may acquire a 75% interest in a property owned by Garde Societe d’Exploration Miniere (ASE) in Guigues Twp., Que. To acquire the interest, Cristobal must spend $15,000 on exploration, pay $10,000 and issue 50,000 shares. Orco must spend $15,000, pay $10,000, and issue 100,000 shares.
— Davidson Tisdale (TSE) says it will not be proceeding with a previously announced acquisition of the “Mirror Image” claims in Ontario and Quebec and certain claims in Morrissette Twp. The company will focus its resources on claims optioned from Strike Minerals (CDN) in Guerin Twp., Que. — Regal Goldfields (CDN) will retain a 100% interest in the A-4 kimberlite pipe after Goldhunter Explorations (ASE) failed to make a $250,000 payment to maintain its option on the property. Goldhunter had an option to earn a 50% interest in A-4, where four gem-quality diamonds have been found to date, by making four scheduled payments of $250,000 each.
— WisCan Resources (TSE) has agreed in principle to acquire varying interests in 11 properties in Bosse, Boyvinet, Duplessis, Gand and Lesueur Twps., in the Le Tac diamond area of Quebec. The properties cover at least 26 circular magnetic anomalies.
The company has also staked 201 claims covering 22 magnetic anomalies near Matagami, Que.
