An alluvial diamond mine in Guinea, West Africa, recovered 4,142 diamonds weighing a total of 2,177.7 carats during the month of May, reports operator Hymex Diamond (HMD-V).
Of this total, 287 stones ranged between 1 and 1.99 carats. Other, larger stones were recovered, including five that weighed 10.22, 13.01, 22.95, 24.75 and 26.76 carats.
In addition to mining operations, the company is carrying out a work program to confirm and expand reserves at several sites on the concession.
