DIAMOND NEWS ROUNDUP — Redaurum gem sets record

Toronto-based Redaurum (RRK-T) reports that its 28.2-carat, gem-quality Colorado diamond has been cut and polished, yielding a 16.86-carat, cushion-cut, white stone that will soon be offered at auction.

The diamond was found this summer at the company’s Kelsey Lake mine in Colorado. The operation is the only producer of commercial diamonds in North America. The Colorado diamond is now the largest polished diamond yet produced in the U.S.. The previous record holder, the Uncle Sam diamond, weighed in at 12.42 carats. Also, Redaurum recovered two gem-quality diamonds, weighing 33 and 16 carats, from its 50% held River Ranch diamond mine in Zimbabwe.
