Alluvial mining in the Mooi River Basin has produced more than 250,000 carats of gem-quality diamonds to date, worth in excess of US$100 million at current prices.
A small test excavation on Mountain Lake’s land yielded four diamonds totalling 9.75 carats, including one 6.75-carat gem.
Mountain Lake’s properties adjoin past-producing diamond fields. The Mooi River properties comprise 80 sq. km in western Tranvaal.
Mountain Lake is seeking partners for prospecting.
