Stepout sampling by Namco (VSE) off the coast of Namibia has uncovered diamonds in all 16 locations.
The company took samples at 10-metre stepouts from the five discovery holes drilled in the sea floor of Luderitz Bay.
At Site III, Namco found 219 stones in one sample, surpassing the earlier record of 215 stones in one sample. The hole was not fully cleared, owing to a mechanical problem.
At Site IV, three samples yielded 20, 10 and 10 stones, while those at Site V yielded 48, 21 and 30 diamonds.
The average size of diamond from Namco’s sampling has been upgraded to 0.33 from 0.25 carat.
