Early results from the diamond drilling program on the Koma Bangou property in Niger indicate that gold mineralization extends beneath the saprolitic zone into the non-oxidized bedrock.
The work completed by Etruscan Enterprises (VSE), which has a 67% share of Koma Bangou, has established that gold mineralization continues down to a vertical depth of 175 metres.
Between 98 and 169 metres, hole SC-95-1 intersected mineralization averaging 1.45 grams gold per tonne. Starting at surface and drilling down at 50!, hole SC1-147 hit 172 metres averaging 0.94 gram gold per tonne.
More holes have since been completed, and cores are being assayed. Meanwhile, two diamond drills are engaged, and two additional drills are expected shortly.
Reconnaissance exploration, employing a reverse-circulation drill and mobile auger drill, is also being carried out.
To facilitate the testing of even larger samples of the saprolite material for a more accurate determination of grade, Etruscan has set up two batch cyanide-leach facilities that can each process a 20-kg sample every 12 hours.
