On the Desjardines property in northwestern Quebec, Diabex Resources (ME) has intersected two gold showings with one drill hole.
The hole was drilled to test two geophysical anomalies associated with a pyrite-bearing, quartz-carbonate zone within a deformed iron formation. The first intersection averaged 4.26 grams gold per tonne over 2.9 metres and included an intercept of 7.47 grams over 1.2 metres. The second zone averaged 7.43 grams over 4.1 metres and included 143.67 grams over 1.5 metres. Diabex can acquire the property, situated 35 km north of Lebel-Sur-Quevillon, from Placer Dome (TSE). More drilling is planned.
Diabex Vice-President Dennis Villeneuve says Placer Dome previously drilled 42 holes on the property and outlined three gold zones, with the best hole returning 13 grams gold over 4.95 metres.
Diabex’s drilling was focused on a new target, and the company says its new showings are not in an area previously drilled by Placer Dome.
