Dewatering plan seems likely at Seadrift’s Aldermac deposit

Vancouver-based Seadrift International (ASE) has released some more results from drilling on a previously unexplored area of the No 8 zone at its wholly-owned Aldermac project about nine miles west of Rouyn/Noranda, Que.

Acquired from Nuinsco Resources (TSE) late last year, the Aldermac project comprises four large claim groups including the main block which houses the old Aldermac mine.

The three adjoining properties are being explored under options from Teck Corp. (TSE), Noranda Mines (TSE), Falconbridge Ltd. (TSE) and Dickenson Mines (TSE).

With additional follow-up holes in progress, results so far are sufficiently encouraging for Seadrift to contemplate a dewatering program on the old mine workings.

Upon completion of the program, the company could conduct detailed drilling from underground, said Seadrift President James Brady.

A typical Noranda-area massive sulphide orebody, No 8 zone contains normal zonations of zinc and copper mineralization underlain by altered disseminated and stringer- type sulphides, Brady says.

It is located several hundred feet east and about 80 ft above the deepest drift level of the old mine workings.

According to Seadrift, a second massive sulphide zone occurs deeper and about 350 ft south of the No 8 zone where three previous drill holes encountered blocks of massive sulphides.

However, it isn’t known whether or not the two zones are genetically related. Drill results obtained so far from Aldermac are as follows: Drill Hole Width (ft) Copper (%) Zinc (%) Silver (oz) Gold (oz) 87-17 52.2 3.14 0.21 1.32 0.04 6

With two drill rigs located on site, Seadrift is planning to evaluate other down-hole geophysical and geochemical anomalies which were detected in other areas, the company says.
