Detector drills Pistol Lake zone

Junior explorer Detector Resources (ASE) has completed a 4,590-ft. drill program on its Pistol Lake property, 55 miles west of Thunder Bay, Ont.

Previous work identified anomalous gold values over a 2,500-ft. strike length, to a depth of 330 ft. Gold mineralization is associated with a breccia zone within a quartz-feldspar porphyry; it is also found at the contact between a volcanic unit and the quartz-feldspar porphyry. The drilling enabled Detector to determine the lateral and vertical extent of the shallow-dipping breccia zone.

Five of the six holes cut gold mineralization in the zone, as well as in the volcanic unit. In addition, the zone was intersected 120 ft. below its previously known depth. The best intersection averaged 0.447 oz. per ton across 4.9 ft.; others ranged between 0.027 and 0.195 oz. over widths of 4.9 to 25 ft.

Following an evaluation of the results, drilling may resume.
