Deep oil discovery unique for province

Home Oil Company reports what it describes as the first significant deep oil discovery ever made in Saskatchewan.

It says the North Tableland 8-22 well was drilled in February this year to a total depth of 8,560 ft., and is located about six miles west of Estevan.

Recent testing indicated the well is capable of producing in excess of 1,000 bbl of oil per day. The average Saskatchewan well produces 19 bbl per day.

The company says the Saskatchewan government’s oil royalty holiday program led to the drilling of the well, and will continue to stimulate follow-up drilling activity arising from the discovery.
