Four exploration programs have been started up by Deak Resources (TSE) following completion of flow-through financings.
Two drill rigs are working at the Aldermac property, 10 miles west of Rouyn-Noranda, Que. Targets in the vicinity of the old Aldermac mine are being probed; polymetallic massive sulphides on strike and downdip from known ore horizons in the area of existing mine workings are sought.
One drill, 25 miles northwest of Rouyn-Noranda, in Hebecourt Twp., is testing for additional massive sulphide mineralization, possibly associated with either the Hebecourt (New Insco) deposit or the recently acquired Iso-Magusi mine, which are one mile apart.
In northwestern Ontario at Sturgeon Lake, Deak (45% interest) and Minnova (55% interest) are partners in a joint venture covering 11,000 acres. Deak earned its interest last year through expenditures totalling $1.5 million. Deak’s share of the current drilling program is about $200,000.
The fourth program involves airborne survey work of the company’s Stirling property, which hosts a former producing mine, at Cape Breton, N.S.
Deak is in the process of acquiring the old Kerr Addison mill and mine at Virginiatown, Ont., from bankrupt Golden Shield Resources.
