De Beers drill-tests Navigator’s LDG Tiberon

The Canadian exploration arm of De Beers Consolidated Mines (DBRSY-Q) is preparing to drill-test several targets at the LDG (formerly Thor) project in the Lac de Gras area of the Northwest Territories.

The 500-sq.-km property, jointly held by De Beers and Navigator Exploration (NVR-V), is 12 km south of the Diavik diamond project. The De Beers subsidiary can earn a 60% interest by funding all expenditures up to the completion of a feasibility study.

Results from 1,000 till samples reveal indicator mineral dispersion trains. Ground geophysical surveys are following up on specific targets.

Navigator also holds five prospecting permits covering 867 sq. km on Akimiski Island in James Bay, some 100 km east of De Beers’ Victor project, in northern Ontario.

Akimiski Island was covered by a widely spaced government-sponsored aeromagnetic survey in 1963-64. Navigator is currently conducting an aeromagnetic survey of its own in an attempt to detect magnetic responses similar to those of the Attawapiskat kimberlite cluster.
