Follow-up drilling by Cyprus Canada and Ogy Petroleums (TSE) has intersected additional gold mineralization on their Fenelon A project in the Casa Berardi region of northern Quebec.
The 4-hole program, totalling 764 metres, was carried out last December to define the extent of mineralization encountered in hole FA 94-4, which returned 42.6 grams per tonne over 6.7 metres.
Significant intersections from the recent program include 15 grams over 12 metres in hole FA 94-10, and 9.8 grams over 7.2 metres in FA 94-13. Holes 10 and 13 were drilled on the same section at elevations of minus 35 and minus 90 metres, respectively.
The mineralized zone, which has a northwest strike and a near-vertical dip, is hosted within ultramafic and mafic volcanics and appears similar to that found at the Detour Lake gold mine, 75 km to the west.
Drill results confirm the continuity of the mineralization and indicate that the zone plunges to the southeast and appears open to the east and at depth. Additional drilling will further test the strike and plunge potential of the mineralized zone. Cyprus, which is the operator, has a 55% interest in the property, with Ogy holding the balance.
