These results show a marked improvement from the 1988 second-quarter earnings of $42.9 million, or $1.11 per share on revenues of $329.4 million.
Cyprus earned $142.7 million or $3.44 per share on revenues of $889.3 million in the first six months of 1989, compared with earnings of $69.5 million or $1.79 per share on revenues of $587.4 million in the same period a year earlier.
The company said higher copper and molybdenum prices, increased copper and molybdenum production and sales, and profits from lithium were responsi ble for the improved 1989 results.
Cyprus Minerals produces copper, molybdenum, lithium, coal, talc and barite and is a growing producer of gold and silver.
