Cumberland drill results released

Results from six widely spaced targets on the Meliadine River project, 10 miles north of Rankin Inlet, N.W.T., have been released by partners Cumberland Resources (VSE) and Comaplex Resources (TSE).

The drilling focused on the Wes Meg prospect and tested various geophysical anomalies in an area believed to be the source of glacially transported gold-bearing boulders.

Significant mineralization was intersected in each of the target areas and Cumberland expects to be back on the property next March to conduct follow-up drilling.

Of particular interest is target “F,” where Hole W93-43 intersected 90.5 ft. averaging 0.23 oz. gold per ton.

The joint venture will likely spend about $1 million on next year’s initial phase of drilling, says Cumberland Vice-president Glen Dickson. Cumberland has about $100,000 in working capital and 7.2 million shares outstanding. It plans to raise more funds this fall or winter. Significant results from the 16-hole program (W93-29 to 44) are as follows: Hole Target Interval Width Gold
