CROSS-CUTS SIR JULIUS IN TROUBLE

The family of Sir Julius Chan, deputy prime minister of Papua New Guinea, is reported to have made a profit of $1.4 million(A) through the 1986 initial share offering of Placer Pacific, a company controlled by Placer Development. Placer Pacific is a gold exploration and mining company with operations in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Sir Julius could face charges of misconduct over his handling of the share issue.
