Harnischfeger’s new and massive dredge floats on superlatives (and water, of course): largest; most powerful; its 50-cu-yd clamshell bucket can plop immense mucky loads into a 6,000- cu-yd companion scow in a smooth, less-than-a-minute cycle * * * The superdredge, dubbed the Chicago, was built by Harnischfeger Corp. It is twice as big and, at 8,800 horsepower, more than four times as powerful as any similar dredge afloat. Dredge, scow, and all are priced at $30 (us) million.
