Court rejects Lac’s Lisheen claim

The Irish High Court has ruled against Lac Minerals (TSE) in the company’s legal action to block the sale of a majority interest in the Lisheen lead-zinc deposit in Ireland (T.N.M., Aug. 23/94).

The company made no comment other than to say it will study the court judgment.

Lac offered Chevron Corp. US$70 million for the latter’s 52.5% interest in the Lisheen exploration project. An arbitrator ruled that 47.5% owner Ivernia West PLC has the right of first refusal on the sale of the Chevron interest.
