Drilling will evaluate the bulk-tonnage potential of the Laurani property, 100 km south of La Paz, Bolivia.
The 4,000-hectare property, owned by Corriente Resources (VSE), is a former gold-silver-copper producer, where previous development of high-grade vein mineralization outlined 2 million tonnes grading 220 grams silver and 2.5 grams gold per tonne, as well as 1% copper.
The drilling will be applied to a 2-by-3-km alteration zone surrounding the main mineralized area. Geophysical work has identified a large, magnetic anomaly extending 1.5 km south of the main area, with corresponding high silver values in altered volcanic rocks.
In addition, a newly discovered zone, 1 km west of the main zone, returned up to 10 metres of 2.5 grams gold.
Mineralization at Laurani is believed to be related to the Coniri fault, a regional structure that crosses the property and is associated with Battle Mountain Gold’s Kori Kollo gold deposit, 40 km to the south.
