Correction (January 22, 2001)

Placer Dome (PDG-T) has placed the Cerro Casale gold-copper project on hold because of low gold prices. However, the major still holds the right to acquire a 51% stake in the Chilean project owned jointly by Bema Gold (BGO-T) and Arizona Star Resource (AZS-V). Contrary to a statement in our Jan. 1-7 issue, Placer Dome has not withdrawn from the project.
