Stikine recently appointed Yorkton Securities as a fiscal agent to find a buyer for its shares. Stikine’s key asset is a 50% interest in the Eskay Creek project north of Stewart, B.C., where partner Calpine Resources made a significant gold/ base metals discovery.
Peter McBride, director of public affairs, said the company is “interested” in the Eskay Creek project and the surrounding region, but it is not in “advanced stages of negotiations” with Stikine as has been reported.
Officials of Stikine Resources were unavailable for comment at presstime. However, several days ago they confirmed to The Northern Miner that a n umber of major mining companies have expressed interest in the offer and made property visits.
