Copper boosts Lornex earnings

Increased copper production and higher copper prices (averaging about $1.10(US) per lb) were responsible for an 84% increase in net earnings over 1987 figures by Lornex Mining Corp. (VSE) for the six months ended June 30.

The company recently reported unaudited net earnings of $28.9 million or $3.49 per common share, as compared to earnings of $15.7 million or $1.90 per common share for same 6-month period in 1987 when copper prices averaged 66 cents per lb.
