A feasibility study is being prepared by Wright Engineers for Consolidated Professor Mines’s Duport gold project. Located at Shoal Lake, west of Kenora, Ont., the Duport property hosts a geological reserve base of 1.5 million tons.
The current exploration program is focusing on proving up 600,000 tons of mineable ore which could initially support a 400-ton-per-day mining operation. This early undiluted production feed is expected to average 0.4 oz gold per ton in grade, the company says.
During the past year, Professor has spent $5.7 million on the underground program. This included the completion of 32 drill holes from surface which tested the northern limits of the deposit. Also, the decline ramp was extended by 1,000 ft to the 660-ft level. Underground drilling totalled 45,000 ft.
The Wright study, which is preliminary, will also examine several different mineral processing methods. This is expected to take several months to complete, G. R. Cunningham-Dunlop, president of Consolidated Professor, tells The Northern Miner. Receipt of the feasibility report is expected early in 1988, he adds.
