Cons. Nevada increases output

Production from a new mine enabled Consolidated Nevada Goldfields (TSE) to turn out a total of 28,132 oz. gold during its fiscal year ended June 30, more than double the previous year’s production of 13,387 oz.

The significant increase was largely attributed to the 100% owned Barite Hill mine in South Carolina which produced 15,700 oz. during the fiscal year. The open pit operation was acquired in March, 1991.

The 100% owned Aurora mine near Hawthorne, Nev., produced 12,300 oz. in the latest fiscal year, compared with 11,600 oz. the previous year. Reserves are mined using both open pit and underground mining techniques and processed in a mill.

Consolidated Nevada is continuing exploration at the Aurora mine, which has reserves of 447,000 tonnes grading 5.1 grams gold per tonne, and at Barite Hill which has reserves of 1.3 million tonnes grading 1.3 grams gold. Consolidated Nevada expects to produce 36,000 oz. gold in fiscal 1993, and is completing a feasibility on potential expansion of the Aurora mine. President Peter Bojtos said the company is now entering a growth phase following the successful restructuring and financial reorganization which took place during the past year, largely under the direction of former president Paul Jones.
