Conger heads up World Gold Council

Harry Conger, chairman of Homestake Mining, was elected chairman of the World Gold Council during its annual meeting held recently in Bangkok, Thailand.

The council is an international organization formed and funded by the leading gold mining companies of the world.

The markets covered by its gold promotion activities are estimated to represent some three-quarters of the total amount of gold annually consumed worldwide in the form of jewelry, bars, coins, dentistry and industrial uses.
