Drilling on the South Comstock gold project near Carson City, Nev., has successfully extended the Lucerne gold deposit to the east.
Rea Gold (TSE) is earning a 50% interest in the property from BMR Gold (TSE) by spending US$2.5 million.
The drilling included: 14 reverse circulation holes; eight to test the downdip eastward extension of the Lucerne deposit; four confirmation holes in the starter pit area on the southwestern portion of the deposit; and two condemnation holes for waste disposal.
Preliminary open-pit minable reserves in the Lucerne and BTK deposits are estimated at 2.9 million tons grading 0.049 oz. gold per ton. The first four holes testing the downdip extension of Lucerne confirm its 350-400-ft. strike length and extend it about 100 ft. downdip from the drilled-off reserve.
