A new ore-testing business, Applied Ore Testing Inc., opened its doors Nov. 1 at Oakville, Ont., just west of Toronto. The operation consists of a metallurgical laboratory and pilot plant. President John Starkey said the pilot plant is able to duplicate most mill flow sheets from small-scale conventional circuits to large-scale wet or dry semi-autogenous grinding.
The pilot plant will use tailing water recirculation and feed water from a local lake or mine site, if available, as part of a standard test, Starkey said. Metallurgical and environmental data will be created.
Services for SAG mill processing up to 3,000 lb. per hour will be provided, with the operation able to handle project sample sizes from 5 lb. to 100 tons.
