Depending on the funds available, Northern Minerals Explorations plans to spend between $600,000 and $1.5 million on its 1987-88 exploration program.
On gold property in Isle-Dieu Twp., in Quebec’s Matagami Lake area, the company hopes to carry out a Pulse EM survey of the 3,000-ft-deep hole, and also is considering a structural geological study mainly in the Marcelle vein area, to be followed by 5,000 ft of additional drilling.
President Jean-Guy Cotnoir reports that results to date for the Marcelle vein area indicate that mining of a certain tonnage could be undertaken near the surface. The operation would allow the company to carry out metallurgical tests plus a bulk sampling that could be treated at a nearby mill near Matagami.
The company is seeking to stake the greater part of Dunlop Bay immediately east and contiguous to its properties. Additional surface exploration may also be carried out in Landrienne Twp., near Amos, depending on the availability of funds.
During 1986, Northern Minerals acquired a 75% direct interest in 640 hectares in Le Tac Twp., in the Bachelor Lake-Desmaraisville area, to the northeast of Senneterre- Quevillon. Previous drillings there indicated copper-zinc-gold and silver zones. This property is currently under a working option to FinNeth Exploration.
