The B-10 hydrostatic drill from jks is the latest addition to the company’s range of long-stroke hydraulic drills with rod-handling capability

Some of the most common problems associated with this type of drill have been overcome by using a new type of chuck which eliminates the need for a rotating pressure seal while drilling The chuck closes mechanically and opens hydraulically The foot clamp, too, is mechanically closed and hydraulically opened In the event of a power failure at a drill station, hydraulic pressure can be lost But both the chuck and the rod clamp on the B-10 can hold the rod load without hydraulic pressure Both can also be controlled manually

Other features of the B-10 include a torque control on the control console which allows the driller to lower both the rotation pressure and the speed of the drill while maintaining constant horsepower as a hole becomes deeper The adjustment can be made without stopping the machine and making a manual adjustment to the motor

The leaf-type feed chain of the B-10 weighs about 20 kg, about twice the weight of a roller-type chain, but is 200% stronger

“B-10 drills already in operation have given exceptional results with virtually no downtime,” according to Guenter Odlozinski, director of engineering for JKS

The B-15 and B-20 are more powerful versions of the B-10 Longyear

The Cadillac of the company’s drills is the Hydro 44 The unit has 47 kw of power available to hoist and lower heavy drill strings quickly with complete control Hydrostatic design allows the unit to drill to considerable depths Since there is no slippage between the brake and the drum surfaces when rods are lowered, there is no buildup of heat to limit lowering and hoisting capacity The hydrostatic oil system of the Hydro 44 absorbs all heat generated by lowering the rods The brake is used only to hold loads for extended periods

With stepless, fingertip control of chuck speeds, drillers can maintain constant chuck speeds in difficult ground when loads can suddenly drop The Hydro 44 is designed so that there is no surge in chuck speed Equipped with a standard bevel gear set, the unit can be smoothly rotated down to 20 r p m And with an optional slow- speed bevel gear set, smooth rotation down to 10 to 15 r p m is possible

To reduce rod-tripping times, hoist speed in both rotation directions is infinitely adjustable Resistivity Mapping
