The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) and three national mining groups will forge guidelines related to exploration reporting and best practices, as recommended in a report released earlier this year by the mining standards task force.
A committee composed of the exchange, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) and the Canadian Council of Professional Geoscientists (CCPG) expects to release draft guidelines in October for evaluation by the industry.
A final version of the guidelines will be released following the comment period.
The committee’s goal is to create solid guidelines covering best practices and exploration reporting to aid Qualified Persons in designing, implementing and reporting on mineral exploration programs.
The guidelines will expand upon a draft version of exploration best practices and reporting included in the final report of the mining standards task force.
Members of the committee include David Comba and Velasquez Spring of the PDAC; Graham Farquharson and Marcel Vallee of the CIM; George Cavey and William Pearson of the CCPG; Hugh Squair and John Drury of the Ontario Securities Commission; Paul Severin of the Mining Association of Canada; and Maureen Jensen of the TSE.
