Commission seeks Westray documents

The commission probing the fatal Westray mine explosion in Nova Scotia wants the federal government to release all documents pertaining to the mine. The commission warns it is prepared to take the matter to court.

An order demanding the release of the information has been issued by commission Head Justice Peter Richard of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court. A commission spokesman says the government has forwarded more than two-thirds of the documents.

The May, 1992, accident resulted from a possible methane explosion, killing 26 miners.
