The 300-m level adit at the SNIP gold project of Cominco Ltd. (TSE) and Delaware Resource Corp. (VSE) is progressing on schedule, the joint venture confirms. The Twin zone structure, which hosts most of the known ore, should be intersected 240 m from the portal entrance.
Drifting is planned in the Twin ore zone with slashes and crosscuts taken at regular intervals to determine grade, continuity, rock competency, and provide bulk samples for metallurgical test work. A hangingwall drive is planned at about 120 m which will provide drill stations for testing the Twin structure at depth.
Metallurgical test work at Cominco’s Trail laboratories has shown that the SNIP ore is readily amenable to gravity concentration and cyanidation. Average gold recovery from gravity and cyanide treatment is estimated at 98%.
