Workers at the Colomac gold mine in the Northwest Territories, a fly-in/fly-out operation, are now represented by the United Steelworkers of America.
The Canada Labour Relations Board granted a union certification to the 250 or so production employees at the mine, 240 km north of Yellowknife, owned by Royal Oak Mines.
The Steelworkers union also represents Royal Oak employees in Newfoundland and northern Ontario.
Two out of three unionized mine workers in Canada are represented by the Steelworkers.
