A conference focusing on cobalt will be held from Jan. 26-28 at the Palm Beach Hilton Hotel in Palm Beach, Fla.
Entitled “Cobalt ’98: The Outlook for Cobalt in an Era of New Sources of Supply, New High-volume Applications and Potentially Declining Prices,” the conference will evaluate international supply and demand, prices, the status of new projects, new opportunities for recycling and recovery, as well as political issues that affect production.
Workshops will address the metal’s use in rechargeable batteries and superalloys, as well as the supply outlook for Russia, Cuba and Africa.
Technical sessions include: a review of recent innovations and applications; increasing supply and demand; and political factors affecting production in such countries as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cuba and Russia.
