News that control of Gateford Resources is passing to an officer of the company helped the issue. Gateford added a nickel to 40 cents -50 cents . Macdonald Mines continued unchanged at 30 cents . Management of the company successfully blocked a takeover bid by a group of dissenting shareholders last year. However, problems still remain. According to Macdonald, Noranda, which controls the Gallen zinc mine in Quebec (in which Macdonald has a 49% stake), will not reopen the mine until a legal dispute is settled. Puissance, which has been renamed Northfield Capital Corp., was steady at 70 cents . Other better issues included Matt Berry Mines at 68 cents -73 cents and Chance Mining & Exploration which closed at 85 cents . Chance controls several claims north of Timmins, Ont. which will be the site of additional exploration this year. Tyranex Gold was active at 85 cents -95 cents . The company is planning a major exploration effort for the old Tyranite gold mine property near Shiningtree, Ont. tse- listed Gunnar Gold is a partner on this project.
