COATS (over-the-counter) Gold issues gain

One Chester Twp. player, Gold Bar Resources, which is controlled by Gordon Leliever of Brampton, Ont., gained 5 cents to close at $1.20 on volume of 53,000 shares. Another Leliever company — Seaway Base Metals — was also up by 4 cents to close at 20 cents on a volume of 143,700 shares. Leliever told The Northern Miner that diamond drillers working nearby are speculating on Seaway’s shares.

One company that has released results from its Chester Twp. drilling is Young Shannon Gold Mines. That issue was steady at $1.15 this week. Although the reserve picture is still unclear on the Young- Shannon claims, the company said it plans to sink an underground decline at some point in the near future. Gold occurs in a series of quartz veins within sheared granodiorite intrusions on the Young- Shannon property.

Trading on moderate volume, but not making much headway, were the shares of Carolin Mines which closed at 28 cents , a gain of only 1 cents from last week. There were 27 transactions involving the Carolin issue.

The Chance Mining issue shed 2 cents to close at 48 cents on a total of three transactions. The company has a small interest in some claims adjacent to the Kidd Creek base metal mine at Timmins, Ont. Falconbridge was said to be contemplating a drill program on the Chance claims.

Another loser this week was Force Resources which backed off by 10 cents to close at $1.40. McNickel Inc. also slipped another 10 cents lower to 80 cents on a volume of 32,000 shares.

Interesting drill results released recently from Windy Mountain Explorations’ copper-molybdenum property in Quebec had little effect on that issue. Windy Mountain remained unchanged at $2.25 after three trades.
