After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from Dartmouth College, he started his career as an exploration geologist with Chevron Resources in 1981 and later worked at Chevron’s Research laboratory in Fullerton, California. He has been working at SRK Consulting in Reno for the last 20 years.
His primary interest these days is the closure-related aspects of mining projects. His closure planning work takes him to projects around the world and to a variety of environments. He works with his clients at all stages of the mining life cycle to ensure that closure is considered throughout the process. As part of his work for clients in Nevada, he was the primary author of the Nevada Standardized Reclamation Cost Estimator model that is now being used in a number of other countries around the world.
