Claude Resources, which with Placer-Dome Inc is busy with an underground exploration program on the Seabee gold deposit east of La Ronge, Sask, has come up with another gold discovery.
Located 140 miles northwest of La Ronge on the Ithingo Lake property, the discovery is associated with a mineralized zone striking for 4,900 ft, Claude says. Trench samples have assayed grades of 0.16 oz and 0.3 oz gold per ton across widths of 20 ft and 9 ft respectively.
Gold mineralization is associated with quartz, purite, pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite disseminated throughout an altered, stratabound zone within a volcanic-sedimentary suite of rocks.
Claude has also identified several other showings and geophysical anomalies situated parallel to the main zone. Grab samples from these areas have assayed up to 0.88 oz gold per ton. The company, which owns a 100% interest in the 41,000-acre property, is staking additional ground.
