Citadel reports new discoveries at Surlaga bet

Already under way with an underground exploration program at its former-producing Surlaga gold property near Wawa, Ont., Citadel Gold Mines (TSE) reports additional results of surface exploration on the property.

It says a recent discovery includes pits on the Root Vein of the former Mackey Point Gold Mines property, and located about one mile north of the Surlaga and Jubilee South Zones, which are being prepared for a testing mining and milling program due to start in October.

The new group of showings, outcropping beside Highway 101 and believed to be on the main Jubilee Shear zones, were discovered by geological mapping and returned preliminary grab-chip samples with values including 0.75, 0.68 and 0.44 oz gold per ton.

The company says in the next month it will strip this area along the 1,050-ft strike length of the associated linear.

Also, says President Dr Eric Hoffman, Citadel has discovered an unrecorded timbered shaft on a high grade quartz vein between the former Minto and Parkhill Gold Mines. The company has a 100% interest in this showing and an option agreement to earn a 50% interest in the adjacent property, owned by Dunraine Mines (TSE) and Goldun Age Resources (COATS).

Meantime, in its underground exploration program at Citadel’s Surlaga mine, Hoffman says drifts are now being extended south on four levels toward areas of previously-reported drill intersections. These included hole S-307 which encountered a wide-sheared section assaying 0.12 oz across a vertical thickness of 58 ft.
