The Centre in Mining and Mineral Exploration Research (CIMMER) of Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ont., says its Mining Environment Database is available as a stand-alone product for personal computer (PC) and compatible computer use.
The database contains more than 7,900 citations from journals, conference proceedings, government reports and books on abandoned mines, land reclamation and acid mine drainage.
Topics covered include reclamation planning, tailings, heavy metals, hazardous waste disposal, reactivity and oxidation of pyrite and pyrrhotite, soil stabilization, liming and mine closure techniques. Some 1,500-2,000 new entries are added each year.
Cost of the PC diskette package is $275 plus GST. Annual updates will be available for $100.
