CIM to address sustainability

Douglas Fraser, vice-president of sustainable development for Placer Dome, will discuss industry challenges at an April 15 luncheon sponsored by the Toronto branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (CIM).

The presentation will examine global sustainability issues, how they relate to the mining industry, and whether these issues should be viewed as a threat or an opportunity. Placer Dome has adopted the latter view and, toward that end, has developed a sustainability policy for business dealings.

Fraser will provide insight into the many social, economic and environmental challenges facing the industry today, and discuss the commitments Placer Dome has made in response to these issues.

For reservations, telephone Jennifer Barham at (416) 955-4756 or fax (416) 955-4753.
