A former leader of China is to be honored through the issue of gold and silver coins.
A Chinese news agency reports that the coins will mark the centenary this month of the birth of Mao Tse-tung. The communist party leader died in 1976. The coins will be issued in two batches, one for the domestic market and the other for overseas collectors.
One gold and one silver coin will be available for domestic buyers. For overseas buyers, two gold and two silver coins, featuring four different portraits of Mao at different stages in his life, will be available.
