Charles Fipke, best known for discovering diamonds in Canada’s North, is now searching for gold in Nevada and investigating the mineral potential of Yemen.
He is doing so in his new capacity as chairman of Goldtex Resources (ASE).
The company has signed a joint-venture agreement with privately owned Canada Mountain Minerals to acquire a 30% undivided interest in a mining concession in northeast Yemen. The land package comprises 55,000 sq. km — or roughly 15% of the republic — and is considered prospective for gold deposits.
In return for the interest, Goldtex will pay US$2.5 million and issue an undisclosed number of shares.
Fipke is a shareholder of Canadian Mountain Minerals, as well as a director of Goldtex.
