Calgary-based Champion Bear Resources (ASE) has moved two drill rigs on to its Oneman Lake property, which stretches for 25 miles along the Separation greenstone belt north of Kenora, Ont.
The property hosts numerous base and precious metal showings with grades of up to 0.7% copper, 4% zinc and 3 oz. silver per ton. Logging roads recently built to haul out the aftermath of a 1990 blowdown provide easy access to the drill sites.
After assaying 1,200 trench samples, Champion’s geologists have outlined 18 drill targets at Oneman Lake.
Champion Bear expects to spend $1.25 million drilling at least 70 holes at both Oneman Lake and at the company’s Beartrack Lake gold property, 10 km east of Dryden, Ont.
Geophysical and grid extension work is currently in progress at the recently acquired Beartrack Lake claims, where historical intersections include 1.7 oz. gold over 2.4 ft. and 0.3 oz. over 2.5 ft. Lake drilling will begin after freeze-up.
