Central Crude of Toronto has released results of preliminary work at the company’s 118-claim Eagle River project in the Mishibishu Lake area, 40 miles southeast of Hemlo, Ont.
The claims were optioned to Noranda Exploration and were subsequently been assigned to Hemlo Gold Mines a subsidiary of Noranda. Norex will continue to act as operator.
Most recent results from the property were based on Noranda’s current work program of stripping, sampling and prospecting. Noranda reports that of the first seven zones within a 2 1/2-mile structure, five zones were found to be highly anomalous and significant values were obtained by rock sampling.
Grab sample assays taken from a variety of geological settings range as follows: Zone 2 — trace to 24.99 oz gold per ton. Zone 3 — trace to 0.82 oz, Zone 4 — trace to 0.29 oz gold, Zone 6 — trace to 0.23 oz gold per ton. Zone 7 — trace to 0.22 oz gold.
Central Crude says prospecting has outlined two new gold zones. Assays returned from grab samples again taken from a variety of geological settings over these zones range as follows. Zone 8 — trace to 0.20 oz gold per ton. Zone 9 — trace to 0.34 oz gold.
Additional channel samples taken over Zone 3 were as follows: A 35-ft continuous channel sample across the zone and located approximately 50 ft east of the first reported channel sample had a best average of 0.055 oz over 10.6 ft, including 0.092 oz over 4.5 ft.
A second 17-ft continuous channel sample taken across Zone 3 and located approximately seven feet west of the first channel returned a best average of 0.06 oz gold over 14.9 ft including 0.078 oz over 10.17 ft.
